Diversity Audits & Reviews
Are your policies, processes, and procedures helping or hurting your business case for diversity and inclusion?
It’s important that you know the answer to this question because poorly written policies and unethical practices hamper your diversity and inclusion efforts.
When revising a policy, it is important to create a revision checklist, which includes revising sentences to be clear and concise, reviewing punctuation, revising unnecessary words, using active voice, and reviewing guidelines and procedures.
Red flags such as workplace conflicts, complaints, low morale, and high turnover rates are indicators that change is needed.

Culture Assessments & Climate Surveys
When was the last time your organization conducted a Cultural Assessment or Climate Survey?
Assessments and Surveys allow organizations to determine the engagement rate of employees within the workplace. Studies show that when employees feel valued, respected, and included they perform above standard. Engaged employees tend to work harder, are happy to go to work, are more productive, and are less likely to leave the organization. When employees feel disengaged or isolated productivity rates are low, turn-over rates are high and the bottom line (profit) is impacted.
If you have issues with high turnover rates, low productivity, and lots of employees calling out sick, you may have an inclusivity issue. Onboarding employees is expensive and it is advantageous to retain employees as they have historical knowledge about the organization but if they don’t feel included the probability of them staying is low. Conducting a Climate Survey or Cultural Assessment can help gauge where employees feel disengaged. Gaining insight into any perceived deficiencies is the first step to address engagement issues. After conducting a survey or assessment and analyzing the data we can help you develop programs to address any perceived deficiencies.

Not-For-Profit Board Meeting Training
Oftentimes Board members and leadership of not-for-profit organizations don’t resemble the population they serve. Issues can arise when we find a lack of diversity and inclusion in leadership at not-for-profits, which have been tasked with filling the social service gap that the government used to. Although Board members and leadership mean well, lacking an understanding of the historical institutional policies and practices that have impeded entire ethnic groups from reaching their full potential can reinforce already preconceived notions about minorities in America.
In reality, there is a direct correlation between race, a social construct, and socioeconomic status. Many people who utilize or depend upon not-for-profits particularly those that assist with housing, counseling, or food insecurities do not understand the struggles of those they serve. Being culturally competent and understanding the societal issues of those in marginalized communities are imperative if not-for-profit boards and leaders want to have a connection to the population they serve.
When can help your board members and leaders:
- Review and understand government policies and practices that have oftentimes created the inequalities we continue to see in society
- Better understands the continued struggles that some in our communities face and are working to overcome
- Understand shared language surrounding marginalized groups.
- Engage clients with cultural competency
